Natto and the Gospel

Dear Friends and Family!!

This week has been crazy! So we had a big conference in Fukuoka and Elder Choi of the Quorum of the Seventy came and spoke to us. Way good conference and I learned a ton! I left my notes at home but the main thing I took away is to focus on people's potential, rather than how they are now. Everyone has enormous eternal potential, especially through Christ's Atonement and the ability to change. He gave an example of how through the efforts of his father, they were able to do the temple work for like 20 or 30 generations back, and baptize like 130 people. That's a lot of souls saved through one person being changed through the Atonement of Christ! So now when I procelyte, I decided to see people from an eternal perspective, and in doing so, I haven't been as easy to give up, and we've been improving. I feel like when we do this, we also are getting a glimpse of how God sees us and it's truly amazing.

He also talked about if we want to understand Japanese people more and become fluent in the language then we have to eat and like natto... It's basically the grossest thing in Japan haha! It's fermented soybeans and all foreigners hate it but he said in order to be fluent we have to learn to like it! Yeah I'm still gonna hold off for now though... But he gave a super good Analogy with it. At first natto is gross and different, but as you eat it more you grow to like it and even enjoy it and then pretty soon you can't live without it! He related this to the Gospel and how at first its foreign and different so we don't want to try it and when we do, it's so different that it is not delicious to us. But if we keep trying and eating it then pretty soon we will grow to love it!

I am feeling better this week! So in Japan the shower is like a room itself and there's a bath next to the shower and the room and bath is called the Ofuro. So I never used the bath before but my companion is a native so he uses it all the time and so he got me to try it and it's like the best thing ever! Way relaxing and I got over my cold and Slept way good!

Our investigator is progressing very slowly but he is way down to learn so it's been slow going but lots of finding this week. So far no one new, but I still have faith!

Hope everyone is doing good! Update me on life!

Love,
