Colder and Bolder

Dear Friends and Family,

This week has been a ride so far! I'm learning a ton of Japanese from my companion! And the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know!! It's hard not to zone out now when we are housing and talking to people cause I don't have to depend on myself to understand what people are saying haha.

It was sad to say bye to Elder Johnson, he's definitely one of the best missionaries I know. Elder Hayashi is tons of fun though. We get along well. It's his last transfer in the mission field so I get to kill him!! I really hope we see a baptism though before he goes home. I promised him we would!

I've had a cold this week so it's been a little bit rough. It got really cold this week and there was a day it Snowed and I didn't wear a jacket so I think that might have done it. It's cool though cause I got to take a nap! Literally the best.

Anyways on to mission stuff, so this week we found and lost an investigator pretty fast. So we knocked on this lady's door and she says she has a bible and goes to church with her friends. I should've guessed it earlier that her "friends" we're JWs. So we taught her a lesson, went great. Came back Friday with Hayashi 長老 and she runs to the door with the Bible and reads us the verse that talks about there being no addition to the Bible and tries to give us back the Book of Mormon we gave her. We started to explain the that it's not adding to the Bible and whatnot but then one of the JW comes out the back room and starts telling us we're wrong and stuff. Let me tell you, I got pretty heated. But Hayashi 長老, being the more experienced missionary he is, just said thank you and bye. I was like why didn't you roast her!?? And he just said he tried arguing with JWs before, it's a waste of time. It's cool her house was far anyways... Haha but yeah fun experience! 

So yeah all fun in Hofu! We have one progressing investigator that I hope will get baptized eventually!! He has a lot of questions! So we are teaching very slowly.

Breaking Records!

What a week!! Things have been crazy lately! After finally telling people that I'm going home we've been way busy with appointments! We also had a goodbye party at the church cause next week not everyone can come. Also this week at church was AMAZING! So a less active's wife and 4 kids (who are all active) finally returned home from America and it was so awesome having a full family at church!! Also a family from Aichi came and visited for obon. And then also a less active member came for the first time since moving to yatsushiro branch! All in all I think we had about 21 members at church!! That's a record by far! It was so fun! Also this week we made these sick notebooks for the members to use when they study the Scriptures! There's also a lot of questions that are in the Come Follow Me text that they can write in them. Scripture study is way important so we're hoping that they will all use the notebooks to enrich their studies! This week was also crazy

Happy Halloween

Hello! What a week! They fly by faster and faster! It's still pretty warm down here in Okinawa so we're way blessed! This week was transfer week, but luckily we didn't transfer so nothing too crazy on our end. But the Oroku Elders are both new and it's been fun working with such great Elders. Everyone is from Utah haha!  So this week we weren't able to meet with any investigators. We've actually kind of had to put them all on the shelf and start fresh again. Our main focus right now is contacting less actives and visiting members. We've seen a ton of miracles from doing so! There are a ton of lessons actives here. We met this one old lady who didn't even know she was a member! She was like, "oh yeah I was baptized but I don't really go to church or anything, like husband was a member though!" it's pretty funny to see, that's back before they had a baptismal interview and requirements haha.  We did meet with one potential

Wait the Extra Hour

Ola This week was awesome!! We were able to set a new baptismal date with another investigator! Her name is Riyo, from Osaka! We met her housing last week. We pressed the intercom on her door and at first she quickly said no to us, but then as we were leaving, she said wait! And asked if we were the American missionaries that teaches free English class. We said we were and so she was like, "I'm in the middle of work, come back tomorrow." so we go back the next day and she's not there, but we sit on her apartment stairs and drink drinks from a nearby vending machine cause it was pday, and we going to start housing the area at 6. It was 5pm and we didn't really have time to go home so we just decided to sit and wait. I stood up at 6 so start going and she walks up the stairs right at that time! She forgot and thought the appointment was at 6! She turns out to be way awesome and we are able to teach her the restoration and she agreed to meet again. We taught
