Happy Halloween
Hello!
What a week! They fly by faster and faster! It's still pretty warm down here in Okinawa so we're way blessed! This week was transfer week, but luckily we didn't transfer so nothing too crazy on our end. But the Oroku Elders are both new and it's been fun working with such great Elders. Everyone is from Utah haha!
So this week we weren't able to meet with any investigators. We've actually kind of had to put them all on the shelf and start fresh again. Our main focus right now is contacting less actives and visiting members. We've seen a ton of miracles from doing so! There are a ton of lessons actives here. We met this one old lady who didn't even know she was a member! She was like, "oh yeah I was baptized but I don't really go to church or anything, like husband was a member though!" it's pretty funny to see, that's back before they had a baptismal interview and requirements haha.
We did meet with one potential investigator. This lady who we met housing a few weeks ago. She invited us over for Takoyaki and we got there and I'm pretty sure she was drunk so that was interesting. Her son gets bullied in school a lot and she kind of has to rely on tobacco and alcohol to be happy. Way sad to see. She said she can't quit smoking or drinking. At the end we prayed together and she started crying saying how she felt happy. I know through the haze of her drunkenness, she felt the spirit haha.
Saturday we went over to Ooshiro sans house to help out cause he's building a bridge into his house so he can get his comatose wife inside the house. We mixed and poured cement in the pouring rain. Way hard work but way fun. My back was super sore the next day haha
I love this work and I love the people, this last transfer in Itoman is going to be bittersweet. I never want to leave Okinawa!
Well that's the highlights! See you next week!
