The Truth

こんにちは!

This week was awesome! We had interviews with the mission president and there's nothing like getting fired up and motivated by the mission president. He is truly an inspired and amazing man. He really put in perspective for me how fast time is going by and how we need to value every minute because before we know it, our missions are over. So I decided to stop yearning for things of the future and the last and just embrace the now! I feel like sometimes in life, we are always thinking about the future or past, when times are better. This causes us to not appreciate what is happening now and always feel unsatisfied and have negative attitudes. If we just embrace the now, then we can find that we will be a lot more positive!

This week was crazy busy as well! We are really digging in and working with members and have built way good relationships that people are starting to introduce us to their friends and family. Those are the most solid investigators. Because they have someone supporting them already, so we are seeing lots of miracles.

We had three investigators at church this week! Super cool miracle! That's the most ever for me haha! Also on Saturday, we fasted with our investigator Daizo so that he could receive an answer. On Sunday we broke our fast together and he gave a very powerful and spiritual prayer. He also said after church he felt a strong and powerful feeling. I know his prayer was answered. However he is scared to commit to baptism. He is so close it hurts haha. He keeps all the commandments, and goes to church every week. We've also taught him everything and he's received an answer, but doesn't want to accept that as an answer. And he's scared to commit. It's so frustrating because I know his life will get so much better by receiving baptism. He is just scared of taking any risks. He is scared of paying tithing and becoming poor cause he doesn't make a lot of money, but I know that there are so many blessings from paying tithing. It's hard for him to accept that. His fear is overcoming his faith. May we never let our fears block us from our faith! The Yamaguchi Elders are having a baptism Saturday so we will probably try to have him go to that and so he can see what it is like.

Another thing on Saturday we are planning is a lumpia party! I am going to break out my Filipino skills and try to teach people how to make lumpia! Haha it should be way fun. I'm going to also make adobo! Also I'm not sure where to get lumpia wrappers here so I'm going to try making my own! Should be fun haha.

One night we were knocking on doors and we met this guy who was Buddhist and he was basically telling us that we are only members of our church because of our parents and our culture. It is very disappointing to think that some people think that, and that's all religion is, culture. It's deeper than that. I wanted to just bear my testimony to him that I knew that this is God's true church and I wouldn't be here if that wasn't true. I wouldn't sacrifice two years of my life, knocking on doors and procelyting, if I didn't know this was the truth. However the man wouldn't listen and so we just had to get out of there before it started to get heated. Both me and my companion were pretty frustrated by this man. However it gave me a chance to really reflect on why I am here and strengthen my testimony on what I am doing. I know that this is Christ's restored church on the earth today, and that one can find true joy through it.

Love you all! Hope everyone is doing well!
