Plant the Seed

Friends and Family!! This week has been pretty crazy! Well, I could say that about every week haha! So right now we are celebrating one of the zone leaders birthday in Yamaguchi so I don't have much time to email this week! We made a cake with pokey sticks as candles haha way funny!  So this week we were able to teach our investigator quite a bit and he is progressing very slowly. We shared Alma 32 and how our faith is comparable to a seed. He said his seed of faith is at the lowest level right now so we're taking it very slow! One thing I really like about that scripture though is that one thing about a plant and seed is that we have to continously nourish the seed or else it will whither away and die. That is so true. There are so many less actives in the church who have once had a firm testimony, but didn't nourish it so it withered and died. We've been working with this less active who hasn't been to church in 30 years and he doesn't remember anythin

Natto and the Gospel

Dear Friends and Family!! This week has been crazy! So we had a big conference in Fukuoka and Elder Choi of the Quorum of the Seventy came and spoke to us. Way good conference and I learned a ton! I left my notes at home but the main thing I took away is to focus on people's potential, rather than how they are now. Everyone has enormous eternal potential, especially through Christ's Atonement and the ability to change. He gave an example of how through the efforts of his father, they were able to do the temple work for like 20 or 30 generations back, and baptize like 130 people. That's a lot of souls saved through one person being changed through the Atonement of Christ! So now when I procelyte, I decided to see people from an eternal perspective, and in doing so, I haven't been as easy to give up, and we've been improving. I feel like when we do this, we also are getting a glimpse of how God sees us and it's truly amazing. He also talked about if we wan

Dear Friends and Family, This week has been a ride so far! I'm learning a ton of Japanese from my companion! And the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know!! It's hard not to zone out now when we are housing and talking to people cause I don't have to depend on myself to understand what people are saying haha. It was sad to say bye to Elder Johnson, he's definitely one of the best missionaries I know. Elder Hayashi is tons of fun though. We get along well. It's his last transfer in the mission field so I get to kill him!! I really hope we see a baptism though before he goes home. I promised him we would! I've had a cold this week so it's been a little bit rough. It got really cold this week and there was a day it Snowed and I didn't wear a jacket so I think that might have done it. It's cool though cause I got to take a nap! Literally the best. Anyways on to mission stuff, so this week we found and lost an investig

Another Transfer in Hofu

みんなさん!! Hope I spelled that right So transfers were this week and I get to stay in Hofu!!! Elder Johnson in transferring down to Iizuka which is in Fukuoka. It's been one heck of a ride and I'm grateful for the time we were able to learn and grow together. My new companion is Elder Hayashi!!! He will be coming from mission headquarters! He was the MSM, So I get to break him back into the field! He is Japanese so I will get to learn lots of Japanese!! It's funny because the Kanji Character in Chinese for Lim is 林 and the Kanji character for Hayashi in Japanese is also 林!! So we're basically the same person!! He's just the Japanese version haha. I also have name tags in Kanji characters so we can wear the same name! Way funny.  Anyways this week has been awesome!! So the last two weeks we didn't teach a single lesson. But in two days we taught 6!! Way cool!! We've also been finding new investigators again! Such a blessing for sure to see success again.

よいおとしよ!!!

明けましておめでとうございます!! よいおとしよ!!! Happy New Years everyone! In Japan new years is a big deal and a three day thing so it's been fun to see! We get to have an all day pday today which means three more hours of destroying Elder Johnson at ping pong! We've gotten way good at ping pong lately because there's not much to do in Hofu and so that's how pday usually goes. Also we have a game night  on Friday  where we play ping pong, favorite night haha. Anyways on to more spiritual things... So this week has been a little bit tougher with finding people. We haven't taught a single lesson  in two weeks . It's been a huge learning experience. It just goes to show that this is truly God's work and we need to always rely on Him. I believe that sometimes God gives us these hard times so that we can learn to show our faith, even when we don't see success. Even when we have faith from the beginning and our prayers are not answered, it's not because God has a

Missionary Santa

Dear Friends and Family, This week has gone by so fast!! We were crazy busy! Highlight of the week was definitely dressing up as a reindeer for this nursery school! So this Sister in the branch works at this nursery in Yamaguchi, and they were having a special Christmas party thing. So I was on exchanges in Yamaguchi with Elder Wright, so me and Elder Wright dress up for this party. He dressed up as Santa. The kids loved it. It was crazy!! Literally hundreds of cute kids going crazy seeing Santa! Haha coolest thing! We sang jingle bells with them and I forgot the words so I just said random stuff it was too funny! Then I went back to Hofu that night and we had a branch Christmas Party that me and Elder Johnson put together, which was way stressful. Because of social media, we actually had a pretty good turnout! Super grateful for that tool we have now! We tried having a white elephant, but Japanese people are way too nice to take each other's presents, so it didn't turn out
