My Own Witness


This week has been so full of powerful spiritual experiences and lessons learned. Last week the new missionaries that were to be added to our zone came in, which included 11 日本人 (Japanese) missionaries from Japan! It's been so fun getting to know them and make such good friends with them even though we can barely communicate! However I learn so much every time I do have chances to talk to them. They are such a kind and bright people and I can't wait to go to Japan and serve the people there!

I was truly humbled by the Lord this week. I started to have doubts whether or not I was being guided by the Spirit, and if I really felt everything I was teaching to be true. I prayed for an answer, and was disappointed by the lack of profound revelation as usual. Then Sunday came along and the topic of the day was "Recognizing and Understanding the Spirit." I was assigned to teach in our District meeting and when I was researching for my lesson I came across the answer to my prayers. I came across a video by Elder David A. Bednar about how the Spirit works, and it is hardly ever in a profound way. I also read an article by President Hinckley which really struck me, which said:

Chapter 7: The Whisperings of the Spirit

“And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:11–12).
That is the way it is. There is a still, small voice. It comes in response to prayer. It comes by the whispering of the Spirit. It may come in the silence of the night."

This was such a strong answer to my prayer and It was amazing to see the Lord's Hand in my life. I know that the Lord communicates us with not profound revelation or visions, but rather in a still small voice, and even then we can confuse that with our own thoughts. My testimony has grown immensely and I can now say of a surety that this church is true, and that Joseph Smith really did see God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.

One cool thing that happened this week is that I ran into Sister Stephanie Nielson (Famous Mormon Blogger and Plane Crash/Burn Survivor) and her husband at the Temple today! It was so cool to see her and talk to her after seeing her speak at a Devotional while I was at BYUI! She is a truly sweet and inspirational person! Another one of God's tender mercies!

Breaking Records!

What a week!! Things have been crazy lately! After finally telling people that I'm going home we've been way busy with appointments! We also had a goodbye party at the church cause next week not everyone can come. Also this week at church was AMAZING! So a less active's wife and 4 kids (who are all active) finally returned home from America and it was so awesome having a full family at church!! Also a family from Aichi came and visited for obon. And then also a less active member came for the first time since moving to yatsushiro branch! All in all I think we had about 21 members at church!! That's a record by far! It was so fun! Also this week we made these sick notebooks for the members to use when they study the Scriptures! There's also a lot of questions that are in the Come Follow Me text that they can write in them. Scripture study is way important so we're hoping that they will all use the notebooks to enrich their studies! This week was also crazy

Happy Halloween

Hello! What a week! They fly by faster and faster! It's still pretty warm down here in Okinawa so we're way blessed! This week was transfer week, but luckily we didn't transfer so nothing too crazy on our end. But the Oroku Elders are both new and it's been fun working with such great Elders. Everyone is from Utah haha!  So this week we weren't able to meet with any investigators. We've actually kind of had to put them all on the shelf and start fresh again. Our main focus right now is contacting less actives and visiting members. We've seen a ton of miracles from doing so! There are a ton of lessons actives here. We met this one old lady who didn't even know she was a member! She was like, "oh yeah I was baptized but I don't really go to church or anything, like husband was a member though!" it's pretty funny to see, that's back before they had a baptismal interview and requirements haha.  We did meet with one potential

Wait the Extra Hour

Ola This week was awesome!! We were able to set a new baptismal date with another investigator! Her name is Riyo, from Osaka! We met her housing last week. We pressed the intercom on her door and at first she quickly said no to us, but then as we were leaving, she said wait! And asked if we were the American missionaries that teaches free English class. We said we were and so she was like, "I'm in the middle of work, come back tomorrow." so we go back the next day and she's not there, but we sit on her apartment stairs and drink drinks from a nearby vending machine cause it was pday, and we going to start housing the area at 6. It was 5pm and we didn't really have time to go home so we just decided to sit and wait. I stood up at 6 so start going and she walks up the stairs right at that time! She forgot and thought the appointment was at 6! She turns out to be way awesome and we are able to teach her the restoration and she agreed to meet again. We taught
