Keep the Faith

The weeks seem to be flying by, next week the new Japanese missionaries will be coming in and we will be getting 21 new missionaries to take care of and help before we leave. The other day my companion had to go to the pharmacy to get some medicine and it was so weird walking out of the MTC! It a breathe of fresh air and it was weird to think that my brother was only a short walk away!  Next week we are going to be teaching lessons through Skype to people in Japan, I'm so excited! Usually when we teach, we teach Americans who know Japanese because they served missions before, so I'm excited to teach real Japanese people! The Language is coming along slowly but surely, everyday I learn a new Grammer principle and use it in my lessons, it's so cool and fun! However I know that the real learning will come when I'm actually in Japan! One of the things that was highlighted this week that I learned a lot about was Enduring to the End. In the mission ther

Flecks of Gold

Another week has come and gone here at the Provo MTC. If I could write an email about all the things I learn  in one week , the email would be pages long. Not only do I learn more Japanese every day, but about the Gospel as well. One thing that impacted me this week was a message that one of my teachers shared. She shared the Mormon message called "Flecks of Gold." It's about a young man who sells his house and travels to California to try his luck panning for Gold because he heard the rivers were full of gold nuggets the size of your fist. However after many days of panning, he only finds little flecks of gold. The young man becomes discouraged and starts to think about quitting. However he then sees an old prospector with a pouch full of gold and he asks him how he got the gold. The old prospector showed him that his pouch was actually full of flecks, and he has become wealthy from the flecks. I think sometimes in our lives we look for big events or miracles to occur

Qualifies the Called

かぞく と ともだち、 I am officially a 3rd of the way done with the MTC. The Elders and Sisters that were here when we got here have now left to Japan and it's crazy to think that in a few short weeks that I will be in their shoes. The time at the MTC seems so long but at the same time it seems so short.  I was called as a district leader this week and I am excited for the opportunity that I have to serve and help my fellow Elders and Sisters. I know that the Lord qualifies who he calls and I have received a surplus of inspiration these last few days.  The Language is difficult, however I have learned so much in the past few weeks. Ever since the first week we have been teaching lessons in Japanese, and the first few lessons I used the pre-made sentences in our language guide books or a pre-written script. However recently my companion and I have been able to teach full lessons without writing a script or using our language guides. It has taken a lot of hard work, but at the

Weeks Into Days

When I first arrived, a good friend I knew here told me that the days turn into weeks and the weeks turn into days. However this is not always the case. Each day seems to grow shorter, It feels like everyday I learn so much and experience so much that time just flies by. I am enjoying my time here and taking advantage of every moment that I have to learn. The language can be difficult at times and very stressful to learn, however I put my whole trust in God that he will help me. During our weekly Devotional, Peter F. Meurs of the Seventy shared a scripture regarding times you might feel inadequate. He shared Exodus  4:12  "Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say." I know that as long as I keep on trusting in God, he will help me learn the language. The hardest part of the MTC is probably having to teach lessons in Japanese. However, these are also the greatest learning experiences. Every time we teach I realize what I need to w
